What’s Going On?

We are sad to report that Adam Ant, who has been very open about his struggles with bipolar disorder, has been admitted to the hospital for observation and treatment following reported odd behavior over the last few weeks.

Scheduled to play a 30-minute set on May 11 as a fundraiser for starving children in the Philippines, Adam reportedly attempted to teach a four year old boy the words to My Generation. After getting a mixed reaction from the crowd, he is said to have yelled obscenities at them. Following that show, Adam played with his live band at Paper Dresstival in London on May 15.

The Daily News reported on a conversation with the singer held after his recent comeback announcement. Adam said “he’d learned to live with bipolar disorder and that he was on the road again for Lily,” his 12 year old daughter. Referring to his daughter as his reason for living, he continued: “I’ve had this lifelong battle against manic depression but I’ve had to overcome it for her sake,” he said. “Times got bad. I lost my mind. But I’m back.”
